This paper examines how the combined use of hydro governors and a wide-area damping controller (WADC) can improve inter-area oscillations in power systems. Such endanger stability grids, thus them is high priority for transmission system operators (TSO). To ensure that low-frequency decay as fast possible, modal linear quadratic Gaussian (LQG) proposed approach. Using 10-machine New England Test System, application WADC hydropower plants via generator excitation well governor examined their effectiveness terms capability. In order to minimize number essential PMUs systems model-based WADC, residue-based input/output signal selection method applied. increase robustness against large disturbance faults, voltage additional utilized WADC. For performance robustness, verification has been done under various operating points, tie-line failures different PMU delays. The successful oscillation by means controlled also demonstrated through nonlinear time domain simulation.
